Fruits of the Spirit: Love

What is love? Love is unconditional, strong, and impossible to stop. Sometimes loving somebody is hard. For example, I love my little cousin, Chase. But sometimes he gets so annoying I want to throw him to China! However these annoyances are only to get my attention because I know he loves me too. This is called Hesed. Hesed is the strongest, most unbreakable, unconditional love in the universe. Love is beautiful and nothing can mar this beauty. Love is not to be taken lightly, however. It is a tool for both good and evil. The devil tries to make us love all of the bad things in the world which will turn us into evil people. God combats this by giving us good things to love which brings us closer towards him and away from Satan.

People who love people, doing nice things, being kind, going to church, and trying to boost people’s spirits have allowed God to take control of their lives and are walking side by side with him.

Just remember, the more of these things you do, God will love you more, you will love people more, and people will love you back. Love is mutual.

Fruits of the Spirit- Joy

I’m back everyone! Today I will be talking about Joy, the first of nine fruits of the spirit I will be discussing in this session.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

That means that these fruits, these Christ-like attributes, are allowed EVERYWHERE. There is no law preventing you from doing these things, and not only that, the more you practice these, the more you are glorifying God.

Joy is a gift that should and can be given freely to everyone we pass by, and the more we give this gift, the more of it we will recieve in our own lives. How many of us like feeling happy? That should be all of us! We cannot deny that there is suffering in our world. Pain, sorrow, anger, torment. Horrible things that NOONE deserves to feel. These feelings of despair can all be easily cured-by bringing Joy to these people’s lives.

So for the next 24 hours I am issuing a challenge to everybody out there reading this. I want you to go around today and do a very simple thing-smile. Smile at every person you see today, smile as you are just walking down the street. This one simple act can bring unimaginable joy into people’s lives. And don’t smile one of those big creepy smiles where you pull your lips back and widen your eyes, but a soft smile full of warmth. And I mean smile at EVERYONE, after all, we never know just who might need the gift of joy today.

Tomorrow, come back to this blog and post a comment about what happened when you did this, what you felt, what other people said or did. And recruit your friends- every person that the Lord uses to spread his word is one more person helping to bring Joy to the world.
